Dwayne “D.K.” Kelly
Man Behind The Music
Born Dwayne D’Angelo Kelly in Atlanta, GA on January 17, 1983 to George and Evelyn Kelly. Dwayne has a musical gift from God and a lyrical talent far beyond his time. His loves for music began when he was in the 6th grade when he was asked to be in the band. When he played his first instrument, he knew music was the thing for him to do. It was his coach in high school that first gave him the nickname, “D.K.”, and it stuck with him to this day.
DK has been involved in music industry for about 8 years. He has been involved with various music groups such as G.S.C., Exzile Records, GDA Productions, and is currently working with IceBoxx Entertainment. The type of music that inspires him is smooth jazz and oldies. He says that, “It has so much more meaning and substance than the music done today”. The one rapper that had an impact on him is Tupac, “He was one of the best rappers because he could get on anybody’s level and talk about any subject in lyrical form”. The group that influenced him most is, Outkast, because of their diverse style in music. He wants the world to know that music is all about self-expression and you can be different and make great music. Dwayne likes to produce a lot of laid back, smooth, soulful types of music. You can hear sweet melodies and feel smooth drum patterns throughout his music. His lyrics are sharp, smooth, stunning, and straight to the point. Through his music he wants to bring people hope, inspiration, motivation, love, and most importantly the message of Christ. Music has found a way in his heart and it is something that will be with him forever.
-“My life is recited through these songs that you play
So what will happen if it all fades away
Will it ever been a rapper by the name of D.K.
Will I ever had a chance just to have my say
God Knew what he was doing when He made this clay
I got the gift of music so everything is in place…”
